Test-retest ranged from 0.77 to 0.96 (for ages 3 to 3,11) and 0.74−0.95 (for ages 4 to 4,11). Cronbach’s alphas ranged 0.77 to 0.95. Inter rater reliability ranged 0.95 to 0.97

Core language has a high correlation with other composites ranging from 0.85 to 0.93. Receptive and expressive language correlate 0.76

Concurrent validity

The study conducted to compare the CELF‑5 with the CELF‑4 consisted of 1000 typically developing students between the ages of 5 – 16. Correlations between overall scores and index scores were high and ranged from .78 – .92.
