In this episode of Trialled and Tested, we explore working memory and its importance to teaching and learning; what it is, why it’s important for teachers to know about it and how an understanding of working memory can inform the way teachers teach.

A recent independent evaluation of Improving Working Memory, a small group intervention to improve working memory, found that pupils in schools following the programme made the equivalent of +3 months’ additional progress in maths.

The podcast features psychologist and leading working memory expert, Dr Tracy Alloway, it also features Alex Quigley EEF National Content Manager and Julie Watson, Assistant Director at Huntington Research School.

Tracy Packiam Alloway: Start to 20:10
