Construct Validity

Does it adequately measure literacy, mathematics or science?
Does it reflect the multidimensionality of the subject? Specific literacy (spelling, punctuation and grammar)
Construct validity comments (and reference for source) The manuals (Charles et al., 2018a, 2018b) illustrate good face validity - tests are mapped to national curriculum areas and national test frameworks. However, this is not measured statistically.

Criterion Validity

Does test performance adequately correlate with later, current or past performance?
Summarise available comparisons n/a

Reliability

Is test performance reliable?
Summarise available comparisons Test manuals illustrate excellent internal consistency; cronbach's alpha and SEM are reported for each different test (p61 of Stage 1 Manual and p124 of Stage 2 Manual Charles et al., 2018a, 2018b). Key stage 1 Cronbach’s alpha ranges between .92 and .95 (excellent). SEM ranges between 2.89 and 3.28. Key Stage 2 Cronbach's alpha range from .93 to .95 (excellent), so in both cases highly consistent and reliable. SEM ranges from 3.56 to 4.09.Temporal stability and/or equivalence reliability is not assessed. Practice effects are mitigated through termly tests.

Is the norm-derived population appropriate and free from bias?

Is population appropriate and free from bias? Yes
If any biases are noted in sampling, these will be indicated here. Sample size is good, but little information is provided about recruitment or demographics of the sample.
