On Tuesday 1 July 2025, the EEF and the Gatsby Charitable Foundation will co-host their inaugural conference for middle and senior leaders in 16 – 19 settings.

The conference, which will be held at a central London location, will be focused on evidence-informed continuous professional development (CPD). It will explore:

  • What equals robust and reliable research evidence and why this is important in education.
  • Demonstrate the connection between research findings and the development of effective CPD strategies
  • How robust evidence can help to develop and implement powerful CPD.

Speakers will include Shelagh Legrave, the Department for Education’s FE Commissioner, and Kevin Orr, visiting Professor of Education.

There will also be breakout sessions and opportunities for discussion with fellow delegates as part of the day, providing the opportunity to share learning and build networks.

The conference is aimed at 16 – 19 senior and middle leaders tasked with the strategic planning, development and/or delivery of CPD at a whole organisation or departmental level, with a strong interest in evidence-based practice.
