DfE confirms funding to enable the EEF to continue its work evaluating and spreading best practice for at least another decade

The Department for Education (DfE) has confirmed its re-endowment of the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) with a grant of £137m to put it on a long-term footing and continue its work as an independent evidence broker, evaluating and spreading best practice across English schools, nurseries and colleges, for at least another decade.

The confirmation of the total grant follows the publication of the Schools White Paper in March 2022, which confirmed that the EEF would be re-endowed.

The DfE also confirmed the EEF will continue its work widening access to evidence-informed programmes through the Accelerator Fund over the next three years. This includes providing direct support to schools by scaling up effective programmes and making them available to a larger number of schools at a subsidised rate.

The EEF will also expand its activity to support children in the early years. This will include working as the evidence partner for the Early Years Stronger Practice Hubs programme, which is due to launch in November 2022. The EEF will support the Stronger Practice Hubs by providing accessible information about the evidence as well as support with approaches that encourage the implementation of evidence-informed practice.
