Earlier today (Tuesday 11 June) the Conservatives released their manifesto ahead of the General Election on 4 July 2024.

Some of the key education policies outlined that would most impact teachers and socio-economically disadvantaged pupils include:

  • Continued commitment to Pupil Premium to support disadvantaged children to reach their potential
  • Protecting day to day schools spending in real terms per pupil
  • Continued support for teachers to use well-evidenced approaches such as phonics and mastery learning in maths
  • Continuation of planned roll out of free childcare for babies and toddlers of eligible parents
