The first is an updated version of the popular ‘EEF Guide to the Pupil Premium’ and its accompanying evidence brief, which first launched in 2021 and was downloaded over 18,000 times last year. The guide is aimed at senior leaders in both primary and secondary school settings and promotes a tiered approach to Pupil Premium spending and strategy: high-quality teaching, targeted academic support and wider strategies. The new guide includes updated information about the delivery and implementation of a school’s Pupil Premium strategy, to reflect the recent update to the EEF’s guidance on effective implementation.
The second resource published today is Promising Programmes, an online hub that showcases programmes that have been independently evaluated and shown promising results on pupil attainment. It’s designed to help school leaders identify evidence-informed programmes that could work well in their school.
The EEF has supported to spend schools to spend Pupil Premium funding effectively since it was established by the government in 2011. For each pupil eligible for Pupil Premium funding, their school will receive an annual grant set at £1,455 for primary schools and £1,035 for secondary schools.
