Writing practice review

Understanding current practice and research priorities in teaching writing.

This practice review was commissioned to enhance the EEF’s understanding of current practices in teaching writing in primary and secondary state schools in England, to inform priorities for future research and commissioning. The review looks at the current challenges teachers and school leaders experience in teaching writing, and the approaches and methodologies that are well-embedded and/​or most valued in the subject.
