1. Updated Pupil Premium resources

In October, we published new resources to help school leaders and senior management teams plan, monitor, and implement an effective Pupil Premium strategy.

They focus on balancing the essential ingredients of an effective strategy: high-quality teaching, targeted academic support, and wider strategies.

2. New guidance on improving primary science

In November, we launched our brand-new guidance report which provides six practical and evidence-based recommendations on how to improve science teaching in primary schools.

3. Expanded support for early years settings

We expanded the support we offer to early years settings. Our updated Early Years Toolkit provides information on average impacts and costs of different strategies, alongside guidance on what to consider when putting a particular approach into practice in your setting.

Our new Early Years Evidence Store explores and exemplifies how different approaches can be implemented with children in early years settings.

4. Six new additions to the Research Schools Network

This year, we welcomed six schools into our Research Schools Network, who joined others across England to support local schools to use evidence to improve teaching practice.

5. Three new projects launched to widen access to evidence-informed programmes

We’ve made three programmes – each with a proven record of boosting pupil outcomes in large-scale EEF trials – available to schools and early years settings across England through the Department for Education’s Accelerator Fund.

6. TES Explains

Throughout the year, we’ve built on our exciting collaboration with TES to support teachers and school leaders in putting evidence to use.

TES Explains answers common questions about education research and explains key teaching terminology.
