Apply for funding

Thinking of applying for funding? Here’s what you need to know.

Our grant-funding supports the development and evaluation of programmes and approaches that aim to raise the attainment of two – 19-year-olds, particularly those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

We do this to find out what’s most likely to work, so we can put that into action across the country.

Our first funding round of 2023 will focus on three priority areas, identified as having gaps in the evidence base and with potential to benefit socio-economically disadvantaged pupils.

Across the three areas and over the course of the year, we’ll fund different types of research – including evidence synthesis, practice reviews, quasi-experimental studies, and randomised controlled trials – to add to the evidence base of what we know about improving outcomes.

We are most interested in applications for this funding round in the following research priority areas:

  • Teacher retention and recruitment
  • Education Technology (EdTech)
  • Post-16
