This funding round will focus on two priority themes identified through our research agenda: writing and secondary maths.
The secondary maths strand of this work is being co-funded through our new partnership with XTX Markets, which aims to build the evidence base on high-quality maths teaching, with a particular focus on how to support socio-economically disadvantaged pupils to achieve high grades and progress to post-16 maths.
Our research agenda maps out the key areas the EEF will explore through its research projects, so that we fund projects that answer the most important questions in education – according to research, and schools’ current priorities. We also give precedence to areas that are likely to benefit socio-economically disadvantaged pupils’ learning.
This funding round will enable a range of new research projects, from supporting relatively new programmes to develop, to large-scale trials of well-established initiatives conducted in up to a hundred English schools.
If you think your writing, or secondary maths programme could be eligible, find out more about what’s involved here.
