This privacy notice will inform you as to how we look after your personal data when you donate to the EEF. This page should be read in conjunction with our privacy notice main page which covers information relevant to anyone whose data is used by the EEF. 

Your data will be used to process your donation. If you have gift aided your donation, your data will be shared with HMRC to enable the gift aid to be processed. We will also invite you to keep in touch with EEF news and events via email.

The legal bases we rely on to process your personal data are article 6(1) (b) performance of contract and is article 6(1)(f) legitimate interests of the GDPR.

We may collect your title, name, address, previous names or addresses (where relevant), email address and telephone number, bank details, records of donations made. We need this information in order to process your donation.

Records of donations (name and amount given) are retained in perpetuity. Your contact details (address, email address, and telephone number) and bank details are retained for 6 years after the end of the financial year in which the donation was made.

Gift Aid declarations: we are legally required to hold some personal information to fulfil statutory obligations, for example the collection of Gift Aid or to support certain financial transactions for six years following the financial year the Gift Aid declaration was made.

If you choose to opt-in to receiving communications from us, we will retain your data for this purpose; you may choose to unsubscribe from any or all communications from us at any time.

As we are processing your personal data for our legitimate interests as stated above, you have the right to object to our processing of your personal data. There are legitimate reasons why we may refuse your objection, which depend on why we are processing it.

Yes, for online donations. We currently use two providers:

CAF Donate, an online fundraising service provided by Charities Aid Foundation, itself a registered charity (Charity Commission number: 268369). CAF will process your donation, manage any Gift Aid, and commits to ensuring the EEF receives your money quickly and efficiently. Further information can be found here on CAF’s website. JustGiving is a company (registration number: 793668) authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). JustGiving will process your donation, manage any Gift Aid, and commits to ensuring the EEF receives your money quickly and efficiently. Further information can be found here on JustGiving’s website. Its safeguards if/​when sending data outside the EEA are available online here.
